I have been flying drones for a little over a year now (not including playing simulators) and now it’s time to move on from a small 75mm whoop to a proper freestyle build.
I decided to make a 3-inch quadcopter instead of going straight to 5-inch quadcopter as this would be a little more forgiving and less aggressive while I still work on my airtime.
Last year I picked up the DJI Avata drone with the new Goggles 2. I figured that since I have the new DJI stuff, a new build using the new DJI O3 Air unit would be a great idea.
Let me go over the build so you get a better idea what I have in mind. Its fairly straight forward as it doesn’t take much to get this build off the ground. Nothing fancy, no GPS, beepers and so on.
Frame – Quadmula Siren F3 Split
Stack – SpeedyBee F405 Mini 35A 20×20
Motors – SpeedyBee 1404 4500kv
VTX – DJI O3 Air Unit and Camera
So far, I have the air unit and the frame, so I decided to get started on the build. It’s basically just mocked up at this point but here it is anyways, current progress. I’ll post more of an overall completed build when I have the rest of the components and have them installed.
Also, I can’t decide on which 3-inch props to go with, so I purchased 2 sets and want to try them both out. Not much out there for 3-inch builds.
