Dirt Mountain Arrives

Ordered 4 yards of “screened” topsoil/compost mix from my local garden center and it was dropped off in the driveway. This is the first time I have had topsoil delivered, I typically pick it up with the truck but its seen better days so we’ll make due here.

Getting all of this dirt cast out on my yard will be a challenge by hand. So I have have a few tools to help me along the way.

The one thing that I feel is a must have is a rolling dump cart, hell just call it what it is and get yourself a Gorilla Cart from your home center. I have the 3-4 yard model from a few years ago and it will help me get this into piles on the yard.

Next thing you will want is a way to spread it all out on the yard. What I purchased was the Ryan Knorr Lawn Leveler. It didn’t last but a few hours before the handle completely snapped in two. Long of the short, I contacted Lanzie (the manufacturer) and they are going to make it right. They offered to send me a steel version of the leveler as a replacement.

Go Lanzie! Next year I hope to pick up one of their compost spreaders for this yearly fall overseeding project.

I would love to say I managed to take care of that dirt mountain all in one afternoon but I didn’t. Not even close. The next night it rained hard and now today everything is wet. The plan is to finish it all this weekend and get the seed down.

Still more to come, hopefully I wrap up this project in the next post!
